Shetland Documents 1195-1579
Regular price £22.00
The volume contains 250 documents from record offices in Scandinavia, Germany and Britain. Many of the texts appear in translation for the first time. They concern the administrative and economic affairs of Shetland, and the private transactions of numerous Shetlanders, during several centuries. The climax of the volume is a new edition of the lengthy and vivid complaint by 700 islanders against their governor Laurence Bruce in February 1577.
