The primary aim of Shetland Folk Society, established in 1945, was to collect and preserve what remained of Shetland’s folklore, poetry, songs, fiddle tunes, traditions, customs, place names and dialect. Over the years much of the material gathered has been shared with the general public through various publications. An anthology of Shetland dialect, prose and poetry. The first edition of Da Sangs At A’ll Sing Ta Dee was produced by the Society in 1973, and it brought together a collection of songs and poetry set to music.
